Walmart PS5 Bundle Outshines Prime Day Deals

The PlayStation 5 continues to dominate the gaming world as it approaches its fifth year, but console deals have been scarce during recent sales events. While Amazon’s Prime Day focuses heavily on games, controllers, and accessories, Walmart steps up with a standout PS5 Slim disc edition bundle paired with an extra DualSense controller for only $509, delivering $65 in savings. This offer provides exceptional value for gamers seeking a complete setup without paying full price for each component.

Why This Walmart Bundle Stands Out

Walmart’s promotion bundles the PS5 Slim disc edition, which retails at $499.99, with a DualSense wireless controller normally priced at $74.95. Together, they total $574.94 at standard rates, but the bundle slashes that to $509—a 11% discount. Effectively, the extra controller costs just $9.01, an unheard-of price for Sony’s premium haptic-feedback gamepad.

This deal is particularly timely as Prime Day emphasizes peripheral discounts rather than consoles. Shoppers get a full disc-drive PS5 capable of 4K gaming, ray tracing, and Tempest 3D AudioTech, plus a second controller ideal for local multiplayer or backups. The Slim model offers a 30% reduction in volume and 24% less weight than the original, with a 1TB SSD for ample storage.

Comparing Bundle Value Across Retailers

To highlight the superiority of Walmart’s offer, consider these alternatives:

Walmart’s package edges out competitors by including both hardware essentials at a bundled discount, unlike Prime Day’s focus on software and add-ons.

Key Features of the PS5 Slim Disc Edition

• Compact Design: Smaller footprint fits easier on entertainment centers.
• 1TB SSD: Stores more games without immediate expansion needs.
• Disc Drive: Plays physical media and used games, unlike digital-only variants.
• Ultra-High Speed SSD: Load times under 2 seconds for most titles.
• Backward Compatibility: Supports thousands of PS4 games.

Paired with the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and immersive haptics, this bundle elevates experiences in titles like Astro Bot, God of War Ragnarök, and upcoming releases.

Prime Day PS5 Perks: Games and Accessories

Although console bundles are absent from Prime Day, savings abound elsewhere. Expect 20-50% off on PS5 exclusives like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ($40-50), Final Fantasy XVI, and bundles such as Persona 5 Royal One More Edition at $50 (down from $120). Accessories shine too: third-party controllers drop to $89 refurbished, headsets like SteelSeries Arctis Nova hit $197 (from $250), and SSD expansions are discounted across Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.

Walmart complements this with ongoing PS5 bundles, including Fortnite editions at $599.95 and Astro Bot packages from $679.99, often with extras like HDMI cables.

Is Now the Right Time to Buy a PS5?

With rumors of PS5 Pro enhancements and holiday sales looming, timing matters. This Walmart deal matches Black Friday-level savings months early, ideal for new gamers or those replacing worn controllers. Stock fluctuates—sign up for alerts on Walmart.com. Digital edition fans might prefer the $460 Spider-Man 2 bundle, but disc users gain versatility.

Consider your needs: multiplayer households benefit most from the extra DualSense, while solo players could opt for game-inclusive packs. All PS5 models support free PS Plus Essential games and cloud saves.

Enhancing Your PS5 Experience

Beyond the bundle, invest in these Prime Day steals:

• Extra SSD storage (e.g., WD Black SN850X 1TB for $100ish).
• Media remotes for seamless streaming.
• PSVR2 if virtual reality appeals (deals around $100 off).

Maintain your console with proper ventilation and regular updates for optimal performance.
