Top Fishing Locations in WoW Dragonflight

World of Warcraft’s Dragonflight expansion transformed fishing into a rewarding profession with new zones, unique fish types, and faction-based progression. The Dragon Isles offer abundant waters teeming with freshwater and saltwater catches, while reputation with groups like the Iskaara Tuskarr unlocks exclusive pools. This guide highlights optimal locations, training options, and strategies to level from novice to expert fisher.

Understanding Dragonflight Fishing Mechanics

Fishing in Dragonflight emphasizes accessibility and variety. Players can level from 1 to 100 in any fishable water across the four main Dragon Isles zones: The Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, The Azure Span, and Thaldraszus. Drag the fishing spell from your profession tab to your action bar, cast into water, and right-click the bobber when it splashes to reel in catches.

New fish divide into trash commons like Scalebelly Mackerel (anywhere) and valuables such as Temporal Dragonhead (lakes/rivers), Thousandbite Piranha (lakes/rivers), Cerulean Spinefish (sea), and Aileron Seamoth (sea). Rare Islefin Dorado appears universally, ideal for cooking or sales.

Essential Fishing Trainers Across the Isles

Trainers are scattered for convenience. Visit them to learn the profession or advance skills:

• Mora Cloudwalker at Wild Coast (starting point for many).
• Daring Fisher in Roaring Dragonsprings, Ohn’ahran Plains.
• Angler Taimu in Teerakai, Ohn’ahran Plains.
• Threshrak in Emerald Gardens, Ohn’ahran Plains.
• Nunvuq in Iskaara, The Azure Span.
• Toklo in Valdrakken, Thaldraszus.
• Erugosa in Valdrakken.
• Head Chef Stacks in The Waking Shores.
• Elder Kinaa in The Azure Span.
• Gordul Razamen in Ohn’ahran Plains.

These NPCs not only train but often provide quests or gear tips.

Prime Fishing Zones in the Dragon Isles

Each Dragon Isles zone hosts unique waters with high fish density and minimal competition.

The Waking Shores: Coastal and River Hotspots

This entry zone shines for beginners. Fish along the southern coasts or rivers near Ruby Life Pools. Daily fishing holes rotate here, offering bonus loot like conches for lunkers. Large Lunker Sighting totems spawn massive fish with valuable drops—use five Ominous Conches to summon them. Alternate dailies unblock nets for rare spawns.

Ohn’ahran Plains: Remote Western Shores

Head to the far west side, beyond the big island, for serene, uncrowded fishing amid scenic islands. Southeast corners host rotating dailies with fishing icons marking spots. High rare spawn rates make it a favorite for patient anglers.

The Azure Span: Icy Depths and Tuskarr Hubs

Iskaara serves as the Tuskarr base. Fish in frozen lakes or coastal areas. Renown unlocks special pools: Prismatic Leaper Schools at Renown 6 (high areas), Frosted Rimefin Tuna Pools at Renown 10 (cold zones), and more. Tavio in Iskaara sells upgraded gear like poles and rafts.

Thaldraszus: Central Waters Around Valdrakken

Valdrakken’s lakes and rivers are perfect for 1-100 leveling. Trainers like Erugosa and Toklo are nearby, making it a one-stop hub. Coastal edges yield sea fish efficiently.

Iskaara Tuskarr Reputation and Special Pools

Grind Iskaara Tuskarr rep for game-changing rewards. Tavio crafts superior gear. Key unlocks include:

Lava fishing in Renown 15+ opens overheated pools at lava forks in volcanic areas—prime for upgrades. Hunt lunkers in designated holes for top drops.

Leveling Strategies for Optimal Gains

1-100 Basics: Any Dragon Isles water works. Focus on open waters for steady XP. Use lures for speed.

Daily Quests and Rotations: Check weekly dailies in Waking Shores, Plains, or Span. Unblock nets for rares; spawn lunkers with conches.

Advanced: Lava and High Pools Post-Renown 15, fish lava flows for Magma Threshers. Flying Fish Bone accesses mountain pools.

Combine with Tuskarr dailies for rep and fish simultaneously.

Best Gear and Enhancements

• Tuskarr Gear: Poles, rafts from Tavio.
• Poles: Epic Tuskarr poles from locals.
• Tools: Flying Fish Bone for aerial fishing.

Overheateds from lava pools boost stats quickly.

Gold-Making Fishing Farms

Fishing yields profit via rares and dailies. Dragonflight spots rank high:
