The Farhan Akhtar Marriage With Adhuna Bhabani: A Rock Stars Marriage Hits The Rock

The Actor & The Hairstylist

3 Farhan Akhtar Marriage

Farhan Akhtar is the man of the moment. He is an innovator who has acted, produced, and directed, not to mention sang in blockbusters like Rock On, Lakshya, Luck By Chance, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dil Chatha Hai and more. The actor Farhan is known for his exemplary dedication, the kind of which he demonstrated in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which involved strict and long training to play the role of Milkha Singh. He has displayed great versatility too, as a producer, actor and singer who played each of those roles to perfection in the super hit movie, Rock On.

Born into a family of extraordinary talent, both his grandfathers, Muztat Kairabadi and Nisar Akhtar, are renowned exponents of Urdu literature and Indian art, his father Javed Akhtar is famous for iconic films like the Sholay, Don, Mr. India and Deewar as one of the finest lyricists and screenwriters that India has ever produced. Farhan’s mother, Honey Irani, is too a highly acclaimed actress, who cut short her acting career to take care of her two children. His sister Zoya Akhtar is also a director, and step mother Shabana Azmi is one of the finest Indian actresses of her time. Well, talk of great lineage and there aren’t too many families that could match up, but Farhan has actually made a name for himself by starting from scratch, assisting in films before he started to direct, produce, act and sing.

Adhuna Bhabani Akhtar’s story is just as inspiring as her husband’s. Her father, Dr. Ashish Bhabani is from Bengal while his mother is from the United Kingdom. She was raised in the UK and her mother, who was very particular about dressing well, often used to take little Adhuna to a nearby hairdressers called The Worthington Hair, in Northwest England. The whole concept of hairstyling and the ambience of a salon enamoured young Adhuna and it was then that she decided she wanted to be a hairstylist. She pursued her studies in styling and won the under 21 national junior hairstyling competition in the UK when she was just 17!

A few years later, Adhuna moved to Mumbai and started a salon along with her brother and business partner, Osh Babani. The salon, called “Juice” soon became a brand in itself, and with a later name change to ‘B:Blunt’, her popularity grew and she became the host of a TV show, also called B Blunt, that was aired on national television.

Free Spirits In Love

Farhan Akhtar Marriage

These two fiercely independent and highly talented people fell for each other and started dating long before they turned “celebs”. In fact Farhan says that he is forever grateful to Adhuna for saying yes and dating him for three years at a time when he wasn’t sure of what he really wanted to do in life. Aduna by then was already working hard at her salon. They dated for three years before they finally tied the knot in a simple ceremony in the year 2000. With Adhuna six years older than Farhan, we commend them for displaying to the world just how a modern, sensible love story should be – one where love ultimately prevails.

A Hit Pair, Professionally And Personally

1 Farhan Akhtar Marriage

Adhuna made her styling debut in Bollywood, alongside Farhan who too made his directorial debut in the path-breaking hit, Dil Chahta Hai, which released in 2001 to widespread acclaim, just under a year after their marriage. The youthful hairstyles that all the stars of the ensemble cast sported were Adhuna’s creation. Who can forget Aamir’s tiny spikes or Saif’s uber cool look from the film, a style which set the trend for that year. They have collaborated professionally since then (remember Hrithik Roshan and Priety Zinta’s hairstyles and looks for the film Lakshya?) and have been a hit pair, both on and off the screen.

The couple have been blessed with two beautiful daughters Shakya and Akira, who keep making appearances at the myriad film events in Mumbai that their parents keep frequenting! We wish the super talented Akhtar family a beautiful future and more success than ever before, and as they say – rock on!

Flames To Embers – Break Up

When we featured this celebrity couple, we held them up as exemplifying new age love that broke stereotypes. Farhan and Adhuna showed us how married couples can be best of friends.

The strongest of love can wear out if not nurtured continually, same with these two. Gossip columns have been hinting at trouble in paradise since Farhan moved out of the home he shared with Adhuna and their daughters.

The rumours appeared true as Adhuna was missing during all the promotional events of Farhan’s film Wazir. Speculations are rife on what led to the split, some blame link-ups, others point out that the love seemed to have fizzled out long ago. The couple themselves termed it a “matter of growing apart” over the years.

Rumours Abuzz

It’s been a while since Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Akhtar seemed like they were heading their separate ways, but given their recent co-announcement confirming our fears, Bollywood is abuzz trying to figure out the reason being their split, and the rumours doing the rounds that say their split has to do with Farhan’s closeness to his Rock On 2 co-star, Shraddha Kapoor, may not be the truth.

The couple, who have announced an amicable split say that their children remain the top priority in their lives. The reason their behind their split, if recent reports are to be believed, is not Farhan and Shraddha’s closeness, but the fondness that Aditi Rao Hydari and Farhan share for each other after co-starring in Wazir. Their proximity was the reason behind a lot of fighting between Adhuna and Farhan, with Farhan increasingly making appearances alone, when otherwise he is usually accompanied by wife Adhuna.

Farhan’s entry at Karan Johar’s party with Aditi in tow was supposed to be the final nail in the coffin.

Will Love Rekindle?

Two people have to sometimes fall apart to realize how much they are meant to be together. Farhan and Adhuna will continue to be a part of each other’s lives courtesy their children. The other positive which may spark a rekindling of love is their amicable parting.

While the split is disheartening for us, it may be a blessing in disguise for them!  Living in a loveless marriage must have been hard. Now both of them can make a fresh start and who knows they might have a second chance with somebody else.

Should we wish them both a fresh start together or with others? What if the love you felt when you first married had slowly dwindled and is all gone now?
