Shilpa would then be cast alongside Anil Kapoor in the smash hit movie Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), which would go on to bring her many accolades, along with all of her roles in films like Trinetra (1991), Hum (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992), Aankhen (1993), Pehchaan (1993), Gopi Kishan (1994), Bewafa Sanam (1995) and especially Mrityudand (1997).Her last movie before taking a 13 year long hiatus was Gaja Gamini in 2000. She has shared the screen a total of 9 times opposite Mithun Chakraborty, a pairing that has come to be appreciated by critics and fans alike. Also because she wasn’t in India at the time, or for a while after. Shilpa tied the knot with Apresh, a merchant and investment banker who amassed his fortune out of London working with one of the UK’s biggest banks – Barclays. The wedding was a grand affair, but it was not in London, rather in Mumbai, and the couple returned to the UK, leading Shilpa away from her show business career, to focus on themselves and starting a family. And that’s exactly what they did, considering the couple had a child in 2003, three years after their marriage – a daughter named Anushka.It wasn’t just the UK that the couple made their home. She and her husband have had many an argument about why she needs to be away from “home” for so long, but as Shilpa puts it, “Mumbai life is an addiction! You have to get your fix.”The duo continued to enjoy their London family life, up until 2013, when (her daughter being 10 years old now) Shilpa decided to re-enter her acting career, which had been in a complete hold for the entire length of her married life so far.Remembering Old Friends Shilpa may not have much time to herself after she is done dealing with the needs of her daughter and husband but she is making up for all the lost time.
