Shahid made his Bollywood debut with 2003’s Ishq Vishk which went to be widely successful enjoying plenty of sustained screening time across theaters, despite being relatively light in promotion and marketing. Fida and Shikhar followed in 2004 and 2005, but despite featuring Shahid’s energetic and vivacious acting, they were relatively unsuccessful at the box office, and for a while it seemed Shahid would remain in the background, a talented and good looking actor who just couldn’t catch a break. This was all set to change with Vivah in 2006, Jab We Met in 2007 and 2014’s epic Haider, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor, and consequently sealed his position as one of Bollywood’s most bankable leading men, and not just another pretty face.

Mira Rajput on the other hand, had next to no Bollywood connections up until her wedding to Shahid, but being a quite gorgeous Lady Shri Ram (LSR) graduate with an affinity for English literature, who also attended the renowned Vasant Valley school in the capital, the Punjabi beauty is by no means short of credentials herself.

A Blossoming If Secretive Romance

Much to the chagrin of millions of women, not only is Shahid’s wife a relatively un-connected and un-famous person, the way in which he met her could have been the story of any other girl as well – both Shahid and Mira (as well as their respective families) are followers of a group who call themselves the Radha Soami Satsang Beas, an organization that preaches the salient aspects of all religions and serves as a guide to inner development under the guidance of a sensei. Shahid’s dad, Pankaj Kapoor as well as a mutual spiritual guru helped facilitate the wedding.

There were rumors of Shahid’s engagement in January this year, but there was nothing confirmed until Shahid himself addressed the media in late March confirming his impending nuptials by saying that the two would be getting married this year. When quizzed about Mira he simply stated that they were two normal people, and that he wished it to be left at that. Nonetheless, he denied being engaged at all, even though he confirmed the fact that 2015 was the year.

16 May 2015 saw Mira’s friends and family throw her a bachelorette party that Shahid, taking time out from his busy schedule, flew down to attend, and to be with his wife to be. Shahid himself never got a bachelor party as he was all tied up with various pressing work commitments at the time.

The engagement ring Shahid gave to Mira consisted of a massive solitaire worth 23 lakh rupees.

While Shahid is currently working on Rangoon with Saif Ali Khan, it is still a mater of surprise that he has chosen to sent out the first invites to the particular couple that would add the most drama into the mix.

Kareena, when speaking to the media had commented on how she would make it a point to be there for her ex-boyfriend’s wedding, if she ever got an invite. Turns out she has gotten the invite, the first one that Shahid has sent out, in fact!

The wedding took place on 7 July 2015 at the West Green Farmhouse, owned by Shivinder Mohan Singh, also a Radha Soami follower. The Mira Rajput Shahid Kapoor Marriage – What Lies Ahead

shahid kapoor honeymoon

For Shahid, it was a question of getting right back to work after his wedding as the couple didn’t even plan a honeymoon as he was tied up with prior commitments. However, with due time we can only imagine the bond between this lovely couple only growing stronger, and the fact that Mira does not hail from Bollywood and has no prior connections to it, will only be a boon for Shahid as he looks to retain his boyish good looks, charm and regular guy appeal, the same that had first won a million hearts and then crushed them with the announcement of his wedding.
