Rohit Sharma - Ritika Sajdeh Wedding: Everything You Wanted To Know

The year 2015 was a rocking one for the team Mumbai Indians at the Indian Premier League (IPL). We saw the team winning the coveted tournament, and soon we witnessed the marriage of its ace baller Harbhajan Singh. But his wedlock was not the only major off-field event that year, since Singh’s teammate Rohit Sharma finally proposed to his girlfriend of many many years Ritika Sajdeh, who worked as one of the team manager for (any guesses!) the Mumbai Indians. The wedding was a gala event, which saw the who’s who of cricketing and film world grace the occasion. We unravel the funfair at the Rohit Sharma wedding here.

The Big Bash

Earlier in the week, the Ambanis who own the Mumbai Indians franchise threw a huge party in honour of the recently married Harbhajan Singh and the soon-to-be married Rohit Sharma. Rohit wore a magnificent blue velvet jacket while Ritika looked stunning in an off white saree with pink zari borders. Geeta wore a beautiful peach coloured lehenga, and Bhajji wore a peach coloured shirt and a magnificent maroon velvet jacket with a matching turban.

The guests at the party included everyone from Bollywood and some cricketers too. While Sushmita Sen posed for a picture with Aishwarya Rai, husband Abhishek was busy taking selfies with Manish Malhotra and Sophie Choudry. The guest list also included King Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle, Sunil Shetty and daughter Athiya, Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, UTV’s head honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur and wife Vidya Balan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonali Bendre and husband, Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao, Amisha Patel, John Abraham, Sohail Khan, film maker David Dhawan, Dino Morea, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Yuva Sena chief, Aditya Thackeray.

The Wedding

The festivities began on Saturday, the 12 ceremony. Ritika Sajdeh had her mehndi on the same day. On Sunday the 13 couple got hitched at a Mumbai hotel.

Rohit and Ritika have known each other for the past six years. Ritika is a sports event manager and works with Rohit’s IPL franchise Mumbai Indians owned by RIL chairman and wife, Mukesh and Nita Ambani.

The couple first met when Rohit Sharma moved to the Mumbai Indians from the now defunct Deccan Chargers. They’ve been friends for the longest time and they decided to take the relationship to the next level. The couple got engaged in May this year. After the engagement, Rohit posted a picture of them together and tweeted, “From best friends to soulmates. It’s a great feeling.”

Cricket legend and Rohit Sharma’s mentor at Mumbai Indians, Sachin Tendulkar and wife Anjali also made an appearance. Also present was the newly married couple Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra. The ceremony was also attended by cricketer turned commentator and current team India director, Ravi Shastri.

After the reception, Mr. and Mrs. Sharma made an appearance for the cameras. While Rohit looked dapper in a stunning tuxedo, Ritika looked gorgeous in a heavily embroidered navy blue lehenga. Rohit had a mehndi tattoo on his hand, a heartshaped tattoo with the letters ‘RR’ written inside.

Also, we hear that Rohit proposed to Ritika at the Borivili Sports Club. Truly romantic! We hope that they both enjoy a long marriage and have a lot more romantic moments. Hearty congratulations to the newlyweds from the team at The Bridal Box.
