Home » Trending 9 Bollywood Dulhas We Always Wanted To Marry by Aditya Vachaspati G B K December 14, 2015Bollywood! What comes to your mind when you hear the word? To most men, it’s either Anushka Sharma or Deepika Padukone in a bikini or a really hot dance number or the love-making scenes. Well, we are not generalising here. A lot of men actually watch the movie for what it is too. To the ladies though, the word might represent something completely different – love, music, drama, romance. To a lot of other girls, it might signify the kind of husband they want (or dream of). For example, Shahid Kapoor from Vivah or Salman Khan from Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!Let’s take a look at such quintessential Bollywood dulhas; the one’s you’d love to marry.1. Ajay Devgan In Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam Via: SourceAh! Wouldn’t every woman just love to have a husband like Mr. Vanraj? He loves his wife so much that he’s willing to let her go. True love! However, Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) comes back to him after seeing her lover Sameer (Salman Khan). Now, we’re not sure if a girl would actually turn down Salman Khan for Ajay Devgan, but that isn’t the point. The point is the unconditional love of Ajay Devgan’s character towards Aishwarya Rai.2. Shahid Kapoor In Vivah Via: SourceNow, Prem is a very well known name in Indian cinema but it’s more or less associated with Salman Khan. However, Shahid Kapoor’s character in Vivah is also called Prem and who wouldn’t want to marry a Prem? Soft-spoken, well-educated, well-behaved, responsible, loving and committed! All qualities that make the perfect husband! No wonder the film was such a huge success. Also Read HUSBAND OF THE YEAR – Your Vote?3. R. Madhavan In Tanu Weds Manu Via: SourceManoj ‘Manu’ Sharma is a doctor in London who comes to India to find an Indian bride. For most women, that would be enough. But for Tanuja ‘Tanu’ Trivedi, it isn’t. She loves someone else and tells him. Manu does the decent thing and tells everyone that he’s changed his mind and doesn’t want to marry her any more. He takes the blame. He behaves like a thorough gentleman and therein lies the problem. Tanu falls for him. Who wouldn’t? A doctor and a true gentleman! A rare combination!4. Salman Khan In Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! Via: SourceHe is the original Prem. He is none other than Salman Khan, also lovingly called Sallu miya or Salman bhai (only by the guys, of course). We all love him to death. Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! was the first movie that I actually remember the story of. I watched films before that but wasn’t old enough to remember the stories. This one though struck a chord. I remember people asking me, “What did you like about the movie?” and I remember saying, “Prem.” I didn’t know his name was Salman Khan back then. That’s my story. I’m sure that everyone has a story similar to mine and every girl would want to marry a “Prem.”5. Shah Rukh Khan In Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Via: SourceRaj, naam toh suna hi hoga (you must have heard the name)! Now, there’s never been consensus on who’s better, “Raj” or “Prem”? Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan? Well, they’re both brilliant. But the point is, Surinder ‘Suri’ Sahni working for Punjab Power is far superior to both. He’s a teacher’s pet. His professors just love him. He attends the wedding of a professor’s daughter. There’s an accident and the groom and his entire family die. The professor has a stroke and asks his favourite student to marry his daughter before passing away. He obliges. He tries to make her comfortable. She’s distraught though. So, he changes his personality and makes her fall in love with the new persona of Raj. He’s successful. He goes through so much of his own, loses so much of himself in becoming someone he’s not just to make her happy. Now, I can’t imagine how any girl wouldn’t fall head over heels in love with our Suri paaji. Surely, the effort itself is worth everything.6. Akshay Kumar In Namastey London Via: SourceThis is another story of love and sacrifice. Arjun Ballu Singh marries Jasmeet (Jazz) only to have his heart broken. He tries to win her back by being friendly and supportive. He even walks her down the aisle at her wedding. He just can’t hold back any more though. He wishes the to-be-married couple the best of everything in life and does it in English. Jazz is shocked and realises that she’s with the wrong man and runs after Arjun. Well, thank God for that! It wouldn’t have been a Bollywood flick otherwise. And Khiladi Kumar definitely wouldn’t have been the quintessential Indian hero if he walked off without his leading lady.7. Ranbir Kapoor In Barfi! Via: SourceBarfi is born deaf and mute. Jhilmil is his autistic childhood friend. She’s rich though. She’s the heiress to her grandfather’s fortune. So obviously, there are people after Jhilmil. There’s kidnapping and the usual stuff. Barfi, in the meantime, is busy falling in love with Shruti. However, he helps Jhilmil out when she’s in trouble. She has nowhere to go, so she tags along with him. She realises that he’s in love with Shruti and disappears. Barfi realises that he loves Jhilmil only after she leaves him though. So, with the help of Shruti, he tracks Jhilmil down. They marry and live happily ever after. Now, we all know that childhood friendships last forever. How great would it be if your best friend was your husband or wife? Think of it, may be your Barfi or Jhilmil is right in front of you.8. Aamir Khan In Dil Chahta Hai Via: SourceAkash Malhotra a.k.a Aamir Khan falls in love with Shalini the moment he sees her. He just doesn’t know it. Years later, they meet again, spend time together and fall in love. However, Shalini is engaged to Rohit. She owes it to his family. So she agrees to marry him. Akash is distraught but decides to give his love one last chance. He goes to the wedding and asks Shalini to come away with him. After deliberation, she decides to go with him and breaks off her engagement to Rohit. Who wouldn’t though, right? If the person you loved came to your wedding and asked you to come away with him in front of hundreds of people, I’m sure you would realise that it’s your last chance and go with the person. Agree or disagree?9. Sushant Singh Rajput In Shuddh Desi Romance Via: SourceA modern love triangle between Raghu, Gayatri and Tara. Raghu agrees to marry Tara but falls for Gayatri and makes a run for it. Gayatri and Raghu decide to get married but Gayatri gets cold feet and runs for it. Raghu and Tara meet each other again. They get together and are in a relationship. The three of them see each other at a wedding. Raghu and Gayatri can’t seem to shake off their feelings for each other and starting making out. Tara catches them together and disappears into thin air. Raghu and Gayatri decide to get married again. This time, both of them get cold feet and both of them make a run for it. However, they end up coming back to Gayatri’s place. This is the modern commitment phobic dulha.
