AC Mirage: House of Wisdom Lost Books Guide

Recovering the Lost Books in Assassin’s Creed Mirage stands as one of the game’s most rewarding side pursuits. These ancient manuscripts, scattered across Baghdad’s districts and beyond, hold the key to advancing Basim’s skills and earning prestigious accolades. Tasked by Al-Jahiz, the scholarly curator at the House of Wisdom, players must hunt down seven volumes to complete the Bookworm investigation. Each book delivered grants a skill point, culminating in the coveted Scholar achievement upon full collection.

Starting the Bookworm Quest

The journey begins early in Basim’s adventure, shortly after accessing the Harbiyah district. Locating the first tome triggers the Bookworm quest automatically, directing you to Al-Jahiz in the House of Wisdom, situated west of the Round City. This hub serves as your return point for all books—no fixed order required, offering flexibility in exploration. Stock up on throwing knives and master Enkidu’s vision to spot clues efficiently.

• Prerequisites: Complete the initiation in Baghdad Bound; unlock Harbiyah access.
• Rewards per book: One Enkidu Token for skill upgrades.
• Total rewards: 7 tokens, Monstrous Talisman, Scholar Outfit, Scholar achievement.

Essential Tools and Strategies

Success hinges on Basim’s toolkit. Throwing knives break barred windows and explode jars; the Pathfinder skill reveals hidden paths. Enkidu highlights books from afar, while parkour navigates rooftops and interiors. Approach each site stealthily to avoid guards, using rooftops for vantage points.

All Lost Books Locations

Book 1: Harbiyah’s Kalila wa-Dimna

In the eastern Harbiyah near the Great Mosque, seek the Kalila and Dimna Historical Site by the river. From the mosque viewpoint, head southwest to a building with an orange tarp roof. Descend south through an open window, then downstairs. Spot a red explosive jar through the door—hurl a knife to blast it, unlocking the entrance. The book rests inside on a lower level.

Book 2: Harbiyah’s Hidden Monastery Tome

Nestled in the Nestorian Monastery courtyard, this requires Pathfinder. Circle the bottom floor for a breakable door; smash it to enter. Push aside the obstructing shelf to ascend stairs and claim Al-Tabari: Tafsir of al-Tabari. Early-game accessible, it’s a straightforward grab post-Harbiyah unlock.

Book 3: Abbasiyah’s Al-Jabr Masterpiece

Northwest from the Observatory along the river, target the last building before city walls. Break the boarded front door with melee. Inside, pull the right bookcase forward then aside to clear stairs. Up top awaits Al-Kwarizmi Al-Jabr. Escape via the window bar.

Book 4: Karkh District’s Concealed Volume

In Karkh, locate a barred building. Climb to a second-floor window, descend partially blocked stairs. Use a knife on an explosive barrel in line-of-sight to clear the path. The book lies within the now-accessible room. Precision aiming is key here.

Book 5: Round City’s Central Find

North of the Round City, near a monastery marker. Enter a small building with a barred door. Ascend beside it to a window, drop down stairs to spot the book behind debris. Knife an explosive to open access—careful navigation avoids patrols.

Book 6: Abbasiyah Observatory Secret

Another Abbasiyah gem at the Observatory vicinity. Approach the structure, break external barriers if needed, and maneuver through internal puzzles involving shelves and windows. Detailed steps mirror district exploration tactics.

Book 7: Wilderness Finale

The last book demands late-game progress, available post-final mission. Southeast wilderness features a rock formation floor. From above, lob a knife precisely to shatter rocks, revealing a drop-in passage. Collect amid ruins—timing saves backtracking.

Delivering Books to Al-Jahiz

With all seven secured, return to the House of Wisdom’s northern section. Al-Jahiz awaits; a nearby window offers quick entry. Hand over books one-by-one or in bulk for tokens. Full delivery unlocks the Monstrous Talisman (boosts health) and Scholar Outfit, plus the achievement.
