12 First Time Sex Mistakes Every Woman Makes. In Bed

By Jayant MenonJayant Menon  •

If there’s anything that’s a scary first time proposition, its sex. And when we’re nervous and wrought with anticipation and expectation, we’re prone to make certain mistakes that we all look back and shake our heads at.

Here are 12 first time mistakes that every woman makes when it comes to sex:

1. Setting Expectations Too High

First time is not only nervous and awkward, it’s pretty special and liberating, and an important milestone in a person’s development. But since it’s the first time, it’s important to keep expectations in check, and just go with it.

2. Reacting Disproportionately

Okay, so this isn’t a trait that’s limited to just first timers, but we’d wager it’s certainly most common amongst them. If he caresses your hair, a loud moan isn’t what is required. Just be natural.

3. Not React At All

Conversely, being completely motionless or silent is a turn off. It’s much more fun for the both of you if you get into it and be vocal about what you find enjoyable, or at least let your body do the talking.

4. Staying Disconnected

Finding just the right groove with someone when it’s your first time isn’t the easiest thing to do, but it certainly helps if you make an attempt. Sex isn’t about one partner laying (or whatever else) about, while the other does the work. Take his lead, but get into the groove on your own way.

5. Overcommitting

First time sex is an entirely new experience, and there’s no need to do anything that you’re uncomfortable with. If he makes highly specific requests or initiates anything you’re uncomfortable with, just say say a firm “No.”

6. Getting Too Emotional

While there certainly are times where a sincere “I love you” does wonders to a bout of lovemaking, it certainly isn’t the norm or required especially since it’s your first time. Say what you feel, but remember that it isn’t necessary that you have to make a really deep or meaningful statement just because it’s your first time.

7. Thinking Too Much

Sometimes, because it’s your first time, you tend to over analyze the situation and draw conclusions where there aren’t any. Thoughts like “I wonder if it’s good for him,” “I hope he doesn’t mind the birthmark I have on my left thigh” etc aren’t really useful in bed, and aren’t doing anything for your mood either.

8. Pretending That You Have Experienced It

There’s no need for this rookie mistake, and it will only make you look back and laugh or even cringe at your actions. If you’re not experienced doing something, make this plain while also saying how you’d like to try it out – it will make for a much better experience all round.

9. Trying To Look Good

Or worrying that you don’t look good enough. You’re already naked in bed with the man, we’re sure he isn’t really judging you or anything, he’s just as excited as you are. And if you hear any disparaging comments, walk out of the act and of his life, you’re worth better.

10. Not Having A Sense OF Humor

Sex is messy, dirty, and full of unexpected (and often comical) moments. This is true for the 15th time you get to it as much as it is the first time, but you don’t know that the first time. It’s important that the accidental hair pulls, grunting and other bodily actions and sounds are met with a sense of fun and laughter, rather than embarrassment.

11. Not Asking For What You Want

It could be something that you’ve wanted to try all along, something your best friend told you about or something that you read in a Mills & Boon, whatever it is, you want to ask him to try it out. There’s no harm in that, and worst comes to worst you guys won’t do what you weren’t going to do in the first place.

12. Faking It

No one expects you to orgasm the first time you have sex, heck, no guy should ever expect you to orgasm even it’s your 50th time together, so there’s no need to be faking it in some sort of ploy to make your first time memorable. It will do just the opposite.
